A Safe Space to Heal and Grow

Hello, I’m Alicia Chan, a counsellor passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clarity and resilience. I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported in their journey toward healing and growth.

My Approach

My counselling style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw on evidence-based therapies including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
  • Mindfulness Psychology
  • Resilience, Strengths and Positive Psychology coaching

Alongside these approaches, I also integrate creative tools such as art and music to support emotional expression and reflection. While not formal art therapy, these simple, client-led exercises can make the counselling process more engaging and help you explore thoughts and feelings in new ways.

This blended style means sessions can offer both deep healing and practical strategies — helping you process challenges while also building clarity, resilience, and momentum toward your goals.

Experience

I have worked with clients across diverse community, hospital, and church settings. My experience includes:

  • Volunteering at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), facilitating Reading Club sessions that engage patients through cognitive, literacy, and motor activities.
  • Counselling in churches, journeying with individuals and families in faith-based contexts.

Faith & Counselling

As a Christian, I honour the role faith plays in many people’s lives. For clients who share this background, I provide counselling that supports spiritual values and ensures the process does not lead them away from their faith. At the same time, I work inclusively with clients of all beliefs, always respecting their worldview.

Why I Do This Work

I chose this path because I believe in the power of connection, hope, and inner resilience. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you — offering tools, insights, and encouragement as you discover your own capacity for change.
